Protective Styles × Curlkalon Hair
While embarking on my hair journey, I found myself in a bit of a frenzy, trying to find the best products for my hair.
Not everything is for everyone, I learned that lesson very early on.... The key is research!
Researching and trying different products helped me, but if I had to give an estimate on money I've invested you would NEVER go natural!
Don't get me wrong being natural was the best decision i've made in my life. However it's very pricy until you understand the needs and concerns of your hair.
When my hair started growing out, changing shampoos and conditioners became my daily routine. My hair would love a product one minute then hate it the next, not to mention the lack of hydration.
It was SUPER dry(due to color damage) and I didn't feel like my curls were fully representing healthy hair. So my friend Ashley Lenee suggested vegan treatments along with protective styles.
Now I can whole heartedly admit doing my hair is probably not the gift God has given me. In my defense YouTube💡(Read War Of Art my previous article) has been a great source of information.
When my hair started to grow out and reach that weird in between stage my confidence spiraled down tremendously.
It went from a 10 with my short curly fro to a easy 3 within two months which seems weird but, you go threw so many emotions. Mostly because society is overly obsessed with being perfectly artificial and being born with what you already possess isn't cool.
Once it's socially accepted it becomes a trend and being trendy is cool!😑
So when I first did my big chop "Natural" wasn't trendy and everyday you go outside and face those awkward stares.
If you don't learn to love yourself in the process something is wrong! Because that's exactly the fuel you need to restore you confidence tank.
Hair is hair it doesn't make you but repeating affirmations like Viola Davis In The Movie "The Help" really could save you from back sliding into the creamy crack (Relaxers/Perms).😂
Yes braiding your hair is a option but after a while it gets boring so I started to use the crocheting method.
This company "Curlkalon" would occasionally like my photos on Instagram and, I remember telling my best friend Trice "I need a hair sponsor" because buying hair was becoming expensive.
Not to mention time consuming she did my first crochet wig which gained a lot of attention. The problem is she lives in queens and I reside in brooklyn the way our schedules is set up....Yeah no!

I decided to take my chance and reach out to them.... It worked!
Lauren Carpeter Senior Assistant Of Curlkalon responded she asked me what type of hair I was interested in so they could send it over.
My first choice was "Saniya Curl" 20" Color 27(Later found out this curl was named after owner Shavone Riggins daughter). Took a few photos with my camera posted them and the response was in creditable!
A few days later I received a email asking if I would be interested in being the first (At the time) NYC Brand Ambassador.
Look at God!
Not knowing I would be apart of a million dollar business I felt so honored. To this day Curlkalon has became my signature look no matter what style I wear people LOVE the curls!
Curlkalon has four textures my favorites are Saniya & Carrie Curl if you decide to use crocheting hair Curlkalon is the best!💕
Curlkalon Hair starts at $13.99- $23.99 and lengths start at 10"-24".
Protective Styles are amazing I encourage anyone starting their journey to utilize these techniques.
My hair is almost at my desired length this wouldn't be possible if I didn't use vegan treatments and Curlkalon.
